Educator, entrepreneur and proud immigrant, Caroline McKinnon founded Felt NYC in order to help others thrive in their new country.
With a career history of activism, education and working with refugees, Caroline set out to disrupt the norms of ESL and Education by removing the barriers usually in place. Working with survivors of torture, war and trafficking, she created a series of safe spaces that were responsive to the needs of her community,
Asked to describe her work, Caroline often says that “my own immigrant journey was one of welcoming, so I feel it is my duty to use my privilege to elevate others.” Caroline believes that every one can benefit by funding education for others, and that donations change lives.
About
Founded in 2017, Felt NYC is a 100% volunteer-based community dedicated to supporting immigrants and refugees in New York through FREE English classes and a variety of practical workshops. Felt NYC means to welcome and help those in pursuit of happiness and the American dream of a better life.
Our approach of learning by sharing empowers and emboldens all those involved. It also leads to a deeper understanding and connection for all. This organization is a two-way street - we encourage women of every culture to share, teach and learn from each other. This is how it should be, because this is our America.
